Labour leadership candidate Joseph Muscat said today that should he be successful in the election, his first act would be to meet the other candidates, the party executive and the parliamentary group to decide on holding the election of the party administration as soon as possible.
“In this way, the process of party renewal can be given a major boost,” Dr Muscat said.
There is currently some argument within the party over whether the election of the administrative officials should be held soon after the election of the leadership, or whether it should be held when their term expires in January.
Dr Muscat said the leadership campaign was an experience he would long remember and treasure.
He said he had strengthened his conviction that the MLP was rich in resources and ideas and there there was a lot of potential which still had to be tapped. .
He had also confirmed the eagerness that existed for a change in the way politics were conducted.
Dr Muscat said he had promised all those he had met that his outlook would be positive, opening the party’s doors to major change and new ideas, leading to a “winning generation.”
“Together we will unite, change, and win,” Dr Muscat said.
