A toddler and an elderly man were injured yesterday when they were struck by cars in two separate accidents.
An 83-year-old from Żebbug was critically injured when he was hit by a car in his hometown at around midday, driven by a 34-year-old man from the village.
A few hours later, a two-year-old boy was struck by a rental car driven by an elderly British couple in Qawra.
Neighbours said the boy - TJ, the youngest of five siblings - dashed out between two cars chasing after a ball into a main road.
The neighbours said the youngster was knocked unconscious, but later tried to get up. However, a group of scouts who went over to administer first aid stopped him from moving in case he had suffered from broken bones.
Police said the boy was taken to hospital but is not in danger.
