These are the leading stories in today's local newspapers.

The Times of Malta leads with news that PN candidate Salvu Mallia's colourful language is dividing party officials, with some arguing that Mr Mallia's choice of words does not match the party's ethos.

In a secondary story, the paper reports on a shelter that has been inundated with requests to attend its annual Christmas lunch.

The Malta Independent notes that the Environment and Resources Authority is to decide on the Delimara gas tanker's IPPC permit application today.

L-Orizzont reports that the PN's new electoral candidates are causing friction within the party.

In-Nazzjon also leads with news concerning the Delimara IPPC application, quoting PN leader Simon Busuttil as urging the ERA to "decide in the people's best interests".
