The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.
Times of Malta leads with yesterday’s MEPs’ rejection of Leo Brincat’s nomination for the Court of Auditors saying this was a second blow for Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
Malta Today says that despite Mr Brincat’s embarrassing rejection, he has decided to push on with his nomination.
The Malta Independent quotes Socialist MEP Ana Gomes saying she could not imagine that the Maltese government would choose to persist with its nomination of Mr Brincat or that Council would dare go against the European Parliament’s view given the number of votes against.
In-Nazzjon notes the strong vote against Mr Brincat and says this is failure for the Muscat government.
L-Orizzont says that documents presented by Alleanza Bidla leader Ivan Grech Mintoff are not in any way related to the medical visas scandal.
