The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says that according to a memo published yesterday, the 38-storey Townsquare development in Tigné would likely not have been approved had Environment and Resources Authority chairman Victor Axiak been present. The newspaper also reports about the nine-year-old girl who was in critical condition yesterday when rocks beneath a cliff-edge terrace fell as she was swimming in the Veċċja area of St Paul’s Bay.

The Malta Independent says the EPP Group yesterday decided to vote against the candidature of former Minister Leo Brincat to the European Court of Auditors.

In-Nazzjon also leads with the EPP's vote saying it would be against Malta's interest to vote for Mr Brincat's nomination.

L-Orizzont leads with the social partners proposals for the next budget presented yesterday during a meeting of the MCESD.
