The following are the top stories in Malta's newspapers today.

Times of Malta reports exclusively that Elecrogas, the company which built the new power station, is in serious default of a €450 million loan.

The newspaper also reports that according to the European Central Bank, Malta is the cash capital of Europe. 

The Malta Independent reports on funding proposals for the University of Malta which would see funding over three years, removing the need for the institution to request funds every year.

In-Nazzjon says that reports had been filed at various police stations about attempts to steal babies or toddlers. 

l-orizzont leads with testimony in court in the case of Nathalie Williams, the woman thrown in an underground cave at Ricasoli and raped over several days, allegedly by her husband. She feared that if she managed to escape, her husband would kill her relatives, the court was told. 

The newspaper also reports that Malta is in first place in the EU scoreboard on government e-services.
