The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says the Nationalist Party pledged to sell 10 of its clubs over 10 years when it was faced with soaring debt repayments in 2015. In another story, it says retired teachers in possession of a warrant have been offered jobs in State schools as the government deals with a shortage.

The Malta Independent quotes the president of the University of Malta Academic Staff Association (Umasa) saying that the goals to be reached for the University had been agreed upon by the academic staff and the education minister but an agreement on how to get there had yet to be reached.

In-Nazzjon says the Education Minister refused a request by Umasa to take part in the drawing up of a white paper on the University Act.

L-Orizzont says that a surplus of €4.3 million has been registered.
