Times of Malta says that two top officials at the government’s anti-money laundering agency (FIAU) were sacked soon after the Finance Minister asked whether reports involving Keith Schembri and Konrad Mizzi's had been “written to be leaked”. The second story quotes newly-appointed Assistant Police Commissioner Alexandra Mamo saying she believed there is no room for an“us
and them” mentality in the police force.
The Malta Independent also leads with the story of the two FIAU officials dismissed from their duties. It also quotes Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi saying the government was considering reintroducing the Air Malta-Frankfurt route after dropping it.
L-orizzont quotes a geologist saying that the rock above Popeye Village in Mellieħa had shifted a few centimetres over the year following alarm raised by an air image taken recently. It also quotes news agency Politico's positive analysis of Malta's EU presidency.
In-Nazzjon says a Maltese man was being held in Sicily after being caught trying to smuggle a large drug consignment to Malta before boarding the catamaran. Referring to the FIAU officials' dismissal it quotes the Nationalist Party saying that it proves that there was no longer a rule of law in Malta.
