The following are the top stories in national newspapers today.

Times of Malta says that the 26-year-old man who was stabbed in an argument, believed to be drug-related, early yesterday morning is now in intensive care fighting for his life. It also reports European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker saying that the coming months should serve to unite Europe and not fragment it.

L-Orizzont says that efforts by the Nationalist Party for Mr Juncker not to meet the Prime Minister proved futile as Mr Juncker took part in a dialogue which also included Joseph Muscat and European Commissioner Karmenu Vella.

The Malta Independent leads with the handing by Britain of its official application to get out of the European Union.

In-Nazzjon reports PN leader Simon Busuttil telling a news conference about preparations for the European Peoples’ Party congress meeting in Malta that while populists spoke about problems, they spoke about solutions.
