The following are the stories making the headlines in Malta's newspapers on Thursday. The newspapers are dominated by the National Audit Office report on the contract for the new power station.

Times of Malta reports how the National Audit Office found flaws in the contract.

The Malta Independent says the auditor flagged shortcomings and also showed how electricity was cheaper from the interconnector.

In-Nazzjon quotes Adrian Delia saying the audit report gave 200m reasons why Konrad Mizzi should resign.

In contrast, l-orizzont says the power station contract was an example of best practice.

In other stories, The Malta Independent says reported HIV cases in Malta have risen by 50 per cent.

In-Nazzjon says the PN has celebrated 25 years since the setting up of local councils.

l-orizzont reports that three workers have died at their place of work so far this year. It also reports that a fifth of drug patients at the hospital emergency ward are women.
