Massimo Tivisini, a 41-year-old Sicilian, was jailed for four years today after he admitted harassing and assaulting his former girlfriend in Qormi.

Mr Tivisini was taken to court after the woman alleged that in the most recent case of harassment, Mr Tivisini smashed a window of her car and destroyed her mobile phone as she was calling the police.

Mr Tivisini admitted the charges and was sentenced to one year imprisonment. The court, however, also made effective two previous suspended sentences, raising his prison term to four years.
