Teenager Jacob Cachia, more commonly known as the Titanium Man, will soon start blogging about his experiences on his recently launched website as he continues sharing his story of survival to spread hope.

The 18-year-old came to national attention three years ago after battling a rare brain infection and again when, together with his mother Sarah Cachia, he started working tirelessly to try and help those going through hardships.

“From the day he got out of hospital, Jacob has wanted to share his story with as many people as possible. He already shares a lot on social media but by setting up his own website, he will have a whole platform to share his stories,” Ms Cachia told this newspaper yesterday following the launch of her son’s website.

The website will feature Jacob’s story, how he battled the rare infection, having part of his skull removed and subsequently undergoing months of treatment.

Ms Cachia said the page will include regular blog posts written by Jacob himself, as the teenager attempts to interact even more with those who have been supporting him for years.

“It was the natural next step for him. In this way he will be able to reach a wider audience, since not everyone is on Facebook,” Ms Cachia said. On the content of these posts, his mother said that Jacob’s cheerful character was bound to come out and readers should expect regular updates on his endeavours.

Ms Cachia said that the website would also serve as a platform for the support group Survivors Malta, which she formed following her son’s ordeal.

In recent years, the pair has worked tirelessly on a number of projects, all with the sole aim of sharing hope.

In 2014, Ms Cachia penned her son’s story, publishing it as the book Jacob – My Titanium Man.

Earlier this month, Ms Cachia also launched a crowdfunding campaign to collect funds for a pet cabin to be built on the hospital grounds, which would make it possible for patients to receive visits from their pets.

The website is accessible at http://titaniumman.com.mt .
