The most read story on timesofmalta.com last year was the online version of the Naxxar fireworks tragedy. This tragedy, on March 12, had left two people dead and demolished three houses.

The second most read story was the online version of the transport strike, followed by another online story on this strike accompanied with an exclusive video of scuffles outside Castille. This video story was also the third most commented upon story last year.

A newspaper story “When the moon hits your eyes like last night” showing a photograph by Paul Zammit Cutajar showing the planet Venus next to the moon, was the fourth most popular.

Unexpectedly, this was followed by the online election results of the first district.

The most e-mailed story was the video of the statue of St George falling during a procession in Canada.

This was followed by the wrap-up story on the arrest warrant issued against former AD leader Harry Vassallo just before the election.

Another election story, that on a university debate which included the participation of all party leaders, was the third most e-mailed. This was also the most commented upon story.

A recent video depicting the unusual scenes of Valletta deeply covered in hail last Saturday was the fourth most e-mailed while the online story of former Labour leader Alfred Sant walking out of press conference and accusing the Nationalist Party of provocation (because Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando was sent to take part as a journalist) followed. This was also the fifth most commented upon story.

A story in which the bishops urged the faithful to back marriage, without fearing criticism was the second most commented upon.

Another online story on the transport strike was the fourth was commented upon.
