Three young men were today remanded in custody after they pleaded not guilty to holding up two people against their will and injuring one of them with a knife.
They were also charged with theft and breaching bail conditions.

The three men, aged 15, 19 and 22, had been arrested on suspicion that they held up two women in Triq il-Gnien, Gzira on Wednesday night and stole their car.

The car's owner, a 41-year-old woman, said she has been sitting on the doorstep of her house when three young men turned up, pushed her inside and threatened her and another woman, 68.

The men allegedly stole two knives, a mobile phone, €50 in cash and some keys before driving off in her car - a Peugeot 306.
Following a report, a police patrol yesterday spotted the car in Tower Road, Sliema. On noting the police, the three stopped the car in St Julian's and fled on foot.

The police initially arrested the 15-year-old, who is from St Paul’s Bay, and later the other two, both of whom are Libyans.
