Three people have died in a car crash in Oldham after a police chase, Greater Manchester police said this morning.

Two men and a woman died when their Opel Vectra hit a garden wall shortly after 3:30 a.m. The fourth person in the car, a woman, is in critical condition in hospital.

A police officer on routine patrol had been pursuing the Vectra after it refused to stop in Oldham town centre.

The incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Committee, as is normal in the case of deaths involving police officers.
