Three Zebbug neighbours have been remanded in custody after an argument which had simmered for 10 years exploded in a fight last week.

Mechanics George Saliba, 23 and Saviour Camilleri, 42, pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring their 57-year-old neighbour George Farrugia on July 1 at 7 p.m. in Pawlu Debono Street, Zebbug, when they allegedly beat him up with a steel pipe. They were also charged with breaching public peace.

Mr Farrugia was charged with trying to kill Mr Saliba after allegedly stabbing him with a knife, seriously injuring him, slightly injuring Doreen Saliba, carrying a weapon and threatening the other two men.

The court heard that Mr Camilleri and Mr Saliba worked in a garage adjacent to Mr Farrugia’s house and had argued repeatedly over noise from the garage.

Mr Farrugia was remanded in custody at Mount Carmel’s Forensic Ward due to a non-psychiatric medical condition.
