Arriva, the operator that will take over the scheduled bus service in July, yesterday named the three senior managers who will head and deliver the upcoming public transport reform.

Keith Bastow, formerly Arriva’s new business developmentdirector, is managing director of the Maltese operation of Arriva. Alf Lloyd is interim operations director and Dave Barry interim finance director.

The team, together with local consortium partner Tumas Group, will be responsible for preparing Arriva, which has a 10-year-contract, to start operations on July 3, along with recruiting, training and developing Maltese senior managers who will eventually run the business.

Mr Bastow will be responsible for overseeing the set-up of the business and will guide it through the first two years of operation while developing a permanent Maltese senior management team.

Mr Lloyd has 30 years experience in the industry across a variety of operational roles including driver allocation, garage inspector, depot manager, operations manager, general and area manager. He will be responsible for preparing Arriva to start operations, supporting recruitment and training for the permanent Maltese operations’ director.

The third manager, Mr Barry, has 15 years experience in the industry, spanning finance systems, business development and franchise bidding. His responsibilities will cover financial reporting and control systems, while supporting the recruitment of a permanent finance director in Malta and providing integration guidance for the finance team.
