A man and two women were injured, one of the women seriously, in three traffic accidents in three different localities yesterday.

The most serious accident was that involving a 37-year-old Ukrainian woman residing in Malta. She was run over by a car driven by a 35-year-old man from St Paul's Bay in Triq it-Trunċiera, St Paul's Bay, yesterday afternoon.

The police said that on being admitted to Mater Dei Hospital the woman was found to be suffering from grievous injuries and for some time she was in a critical condition. Her condition, however, later became stable, the police added.

Magistrate Doreen Clarke appointed a team of court experts to help in an inquiry.

In another accident, in Triq Aldo Moro, Marsa just after 5 p.m., a 47-year-old motorcyclist from Żejtun was injured when he was involved in a crash with a car driven by a 59-year-old man, who is also from the same locality.

The two vehicles were travelling in the same direction.

The motorcyclist was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was found to be suffering from various fractures.

His injuries are not life threatening, the police said.

The third accident involved a Serbian man who was hit by a car driven by a 31-year-old woman from Rabat at about 6.15 p.m. The accident happened in Triq il-Qaliet in Marsascala.
