Three people were injured, one of them seriously in a traffic accident early today.

The police said the accident in Triq Gorg Borg Olivier, St Julian's involved a

Mazda 121 Demio and a Smart City Passion 61 which crashed head on at around 4 a.m.

The Mazda was being driven in the direction of St Julian's by a 29-year-old man from Swieqi while the Smart was being driven in the opposition direction by a 34-year-old Italian man who lives in St Julian's.

The Mazda driver and his passenger, a 39-year-old French woman who lives in Swieqi, were slightly injured but the Smart driver suffered grievous injuries.
