A street fight in Marsamxett Road, Valletta early yesterday morning left three persons, including a woman, seriously injured.

For some time one of the injured men, aged 23, of Valletta, was in a critical condition but he improved later, the police said.

A man from Valletta has been held for questioning.

The police said that shortly after 1 a.m. they were alerted about an injured man lying in Marsamxett Road following an argument. On investigating they found that in fact three persons had been hurt.

The others were a 22-year-old woman from Żurrieq and an 18-year-old Maltese-born man who resides in Russia.

The police did not give any details about the nature of their injuries.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is holding an inquiry.
