Five people were injured in a traffic accident at December 13 Road, Marsa at around 3 p.m. Their condition is not yet known.

The accident happened when the 21-year-old driver, from Luqa, of a Seat Ibiza being driven in the direction of Valletta jumped the center strip when he lost control and crashed into a Mercedes taxi that was being driven in the direction of the airport. The taxi was being driven by a 31-year-old man from Qormi

All the people who were in the taxi - the driver and two Italian couples, aged between 50 and 52, were taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

The road is currently closed to traffic.
