Three in four people admit to falling out with their partner during car trips, according to a survey. Most arguments start within an hour of the start of a journey, the poll by the Budget Car Rental company found.
Around a third of the rows are caused by a partner’s bad driving habits while 27 per cent of those surveyed blamed the confined space of a vehicle for arguments.
Criticism of a driver’s ability and back-seat driving were also causes of friction between couples while 22 per cent said their partners’ driving put them off getting into a vehicle with them completely.
Navigation was another problem, as was speeding.
Budget UK spokesman Stuart Liddle said: “Our research shows that many of us are embarking on road journeys without proper planning, which can result in arguments behind the wheel.
“It’s always best to ensure you have a full tank before you set off and, with navigation causing the most arguments behind the wheel, invest in a GPS to ensure you get to your destination with minimum fuss.”
