Long queues built up outside both polling stations in Zejtun this morning as hundreds of people opted to vote early.

Some people outside the primary school said they started queuing at 5.30 a.m. - even though polling stations opened at 7 a.m.

At the locality's  Junior Lyceum, matters got complicated when a busload of residents of the home of the elderly drove up, and most of the people needed assistance to vote.

A number of people outside the lyceum said they had been in the queue for almost three hours.

The situation remained calm but some people opted to leave, saying they would return later.
