A Nigerian man was yesterday charged with drug-related offences after police found 28 grams of cocaine in his home and vehicle.

Police also found €24,000 in cash at the home of Ugo Marius Nwankwo, 30, from Żejtun. Mr Nwankwo pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000 and deposit of €2,000. In a separate arraignment, two Britons pleaded guilty to seriously injuring a Maltese man during a fight in Paceville early on Thursday morning.

Peter King and Michael Lawson admitted to assaulting Reuben Cassar in Paceville on Thursday at 2.30 a.m. Mr King also pleaded guilty to seriously injuring Brian Vella.

Magistrate Grixti conditionally discharged the two men for two years.
