Three people have died in what authorities believe was a mid-air skydiving accident in Australia on Friday, police said.

Two men aged in their 30s and a woman in her 50s are believed to have collided while skydiving near Cairns in northeastern Australia.

A nearby resident in the town of Mission Beach said three people fell onto the lawn of a suburban property about 1.5 kilometres (1 mile) north of the usual landing site for parachutists, Australian Broadcasting Corp reported.
