The top earning film at the local box office in the period December 2009-2010 was Shrek: Forever After, the fourth installment of the Shrek franchise. It was followed by Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

The 20 films that attracted the widest audiences last year once again reflected the popularity of action movies followed by animated adventures/comedies, dramas and live-action adventures.

This year also saw a resurgence of 3D, with a total of 16 films being shown either in Digital 3D or 35mm format, whereas six films were only available and screened in Digital 3D. One film was available in digital format to cinemas equipped with this system.

KRS Film Distributors released a total of 169 productions in 2010. These came from no fewer than 13 countries, ranging from the UK and US to Brazil and India. These included five co-productions and two locally produced films – Xrar and L-Iskorpjun.
