Malta recorded the third highest growth in gross domestic product in the third quarter when compared to other European Union states, Eurostat said.

The EU statistical office said the GDP rose by 0.3 per cent in the euro area and by 0.4 per cent in all member states (EU28) when compared to the second quarter of the year.

Romania recorded a growth of 1.4 per cent, Croatia 1.3 per cent and Malta 1.1. A 0.69 per cent drop was registered in Greece while Estonia and Finland recorded a 0.5 per cent drop.

During the third quarter of 2015, household final consumption expenditure rose by 0.4 per cent in the euro area and by 0.5 per cent in the EU28.

Gross fixed capital formation remained stable in the euro area and rose by 0.3 per cent in the EU28.
