Electronic Music Malta (EMM) will be holding its annual conference, Circuits, on April 7 at St James Cavalier, Valletta.

The conference will feature over eight hours of presentations, workshops, performances together with discussions, an innovative installation, an educational kiosk and a jamming area around the various areas of St James Cavalier from 2pm onwards.

Confirmed participants to this year’s event include Andrej Ljatkovski, Brian James, DF Tram, Edo Pietrogrande, Guisvi, Haar Records, Infinitedub, Late Interactive, Malta Sound Women Network, Malta Takes London, Mike Desira, mono-poly, Nikki (Tribali), Parallaks, RAIM, Sequenchill, Shadeena and Sufian Busiut.

The conference will consist of four areas at St James Cavalier, which include a public demonstration area showcasing an installation entitled Bulbstep-An Immersive 16 Step Sequencer. The installation was created by Late Interactive.

There is also a modular synthesizer built by Maltese engineer Mike Desira; an educational kiosk that plays footage recorded during EMM’s talks; and DJs Guisvi and Infinitedub in attendance. There will also be a public talk/performance area where discussions and performances will be held, with the participation of Haar Records, Sufian Busiut, Malta Sound Women Network, Nikki (Tribali), Shadeena, Brian James and Sequenchill.

The third section involves a workshop/classroom area where workshops on mastering and music production will be held with the participation of engineers Andrej Ljatkovski and Edo Pietrogrande.

These sessions will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and can be booked by EMM members or concert ticket holders.

Finally, there will be a concert area where performances and a talk will be held by mono-poly, Parallaks and RAIM. Tickets for these performances will be available from the reception at St James Cavalier.

This is EMM’s third annual Circuits conference. This year’s edition is part of the Valletta 2018 programme and is organised in collaboration with Fondazzjoni Kreattività.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition is expected to be Dutch modular synthesizer performer Dennis Verschoor, who performs under the acronym mono-poly.
