A Bulgarian woman resident in the Netherlands, Ginka Atanasova Stefanova, 21, this morning pleaded not guilty to association to import drugs in Malta.

The police had earlier said that the woman was arrested after drugs were found in her possession.

The woman was held at the airport on Saturday on arrival on a flight from Brussels.

It was the third such arrest in a week.

As in the other cases, the drugs were hidden in capsules in the woman's stomach.

The police said there were 86 capsules containing a total of 860 grams of cocaine and heroin.

The operation was conducted with the Customs Department.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi is holding an inquiry. The woman is expected to be taken to court this morning.
