While I agree 100 per cent with David Demajo (April 11) on gun owning, I strongly urge Minister Tonio Borg to heed the proposals of the competent organisations that know the subject better than whoever drafted the White Paper.

With this new law, the government is going to punish law-abiding citizens.

For the serious, law-abiding collector/target shooter, there is only one way to pursue his hobby, and that is in compliance with the law. As Mr Demajo says, the government should think twice before presenting this White Paper in parliament.

The authorities should first take the genuine advice of those organisations whose only aim is to have a decent gun law.
