A Gozitan prison inmate yesterday was charged with stealing items from a shop after being jailed for stealing 13 historic guns only two months ago.

Christopher Shepherd, 38, from Victoria yesterday pleaded not guilty to stealing more than €2,239 worth of jewellery from Ta' Qali on March 18.

He had been jailed for two-and-a-half years on August 18 after he admitted to stealing 13 historic shotguns worth €95,000 from the Customs General Examination Shed in Marsa last February.

Only a month later he broke into JCF Jewellery in Ta' Qali and made away with what he could lay his hands on.

Mr Shepherd was also jailed for 20 months in July after he admitted to breaking and entering a Pembroke house in two separate burglaries on March 1 and 2.

Lawyer Mark Busuttil appeared for Mr Shepherd.
