One of two men who were yesterday caught red-handed after burgling a house in Mellieha was jailed for two years today after filing a guilty plea.

The second pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.

The guilty plea was filed by Josef Buttigieg, (known as Il-Qasba) 34 of Birkirkara.

He admitted to stealing a number of items from a residence in Mellieha and breaching bail in four separate cases.

He was jailed for two years and the court confiscated €4,000 which he had deposited as guarantee for bail.

Meanwhile, Francis Formosa, 43 of Burmarrad (known as Putatti), pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
