A 20-year-old man from Qormi this morning given a one year jail term suspended for three years after he pleaded guilty to stealing €2,044 worth of items from Pretty Bay in Birzebbuga between July 20 and last Thursday.

Paul Falzon was accused of stealing 11 bags, the contents of which included three mobile phones, digital cameras and cash.

Magistrate Anthony Vella said he was giving the man a suspended jail term so that he would be able to pay the money stolen back to the victims. The magistrate also appointed a probation officer to follow Mr Falzon and ensure he paid the money.
