The band Therapy, which remains one of Northern Ireland's most groundbreaking and inspirational acts, will be kicking off its European tour in Malta.
Renowned for their live shows and loyal following, Therapy will be playing at Sky Club, Paceville, tomorrow. In an unadulterated night of passionate rock music, local acts The Areola Treat and Shostakovich's Nightmare will provide support and Wayne Flask will be the guest DJ.
Formed in the very late 1980s by Adrian Cairns, Michael McKeegan and Fyfe Ewing, the band hit its stride in the mid-1990s when a series of successful albums made the charts across Europe.
Selling more than a million copies, Troublegum was to be Therapy's pivotal album when it reached the top five in the UK charts. Songs off the Troublegum album such as Screamager and Going Nowhere remain worldwide rock anthems to this day.
One of the few bands to successfully merge the metal and alternative genres, Therapy was nominated as Best Rock Act at both the MTV European Awards and The Mercury Prize Awards. Troublegum was also voted Album of the Year by the popular metal magazine Kerrang.
For a long spell, Therapy was one of the headlining acts in most of the major outdoor summer rock festivals, such as The Monsters of Rock Festival and Ozzfest.
The band's relationship with Ozzy Osbourne did not end there because the metal star ironically provided guest vocals on Therapy's cover of the Black Sabbath song Iron Man.
Many music critics are hailing the band's new album, Crooked Timber, as their best to date.
