Despite the disappointing result of yesterday’s Eurovision semi-final, Thea Garrett did not spend the rest of the evening sulking in her room.

Instead she went out to the Euroclub – a nightclub dedicated to those involved in the Eurovision – where she was welcomed by loud applause.

And who was the one to convince her to go out and party?

Her new best friend and Polish representative Marcin Mrozinski, of course. He also failed to qualify yesterday evening and immediately went into Thea’s room backstage to console her after the result was announced.

“At first Thea said she didn’t feel like going out but after some requests she agreed to come to the Euroclub with me,” he told timesofmalta.com.

“We decided to be happy and very proud of the good shows we both put up.”

He pointed out that Thea’s song was a dramatic and good song which resembled the ballads of the 90s, but the result was evidence that such songs were not appreciated any more in Eurovision.

“Thea and I both wanted to go back to the good times, but it didn’t work here,” he said.

Meanwhile, head of delegation Joe Dimech told timesofmalta.com that this was a big disappointment for all of Malta, but especially for 18-year-old Thea who gave “the best performance she could have given”.

He said it was not yet clear why Malta had failed to qualify. What was certain was that there were a number of other good songs. The result would be analysed further once the full results are announced on Sunday.

“But our consciences are clear because we did everything we could with our limited resources. The final result did not depend on us,” he said.

PL sends its congratulations

The Labour Party in a statement congratulated Thea Garrett and her team for an excellent performance and said that Thea should continue to pursue her dream in the music industry.
