The Times of Malta moved out of its Valletta offices this week after almost 90 years of operation from Strickland House in St Paul Street.

The newspaper will now be run from its new complex in Mrieħel, which also houses Progress Press.

Allied Newspapers Limited’s managing director, Michel Rizzo, said the time had come for the company to relocate to a modern and vibrant working environment that truly reflects “the future-facing media company that Allied is today”.

The move out of Valletta would enable it to bring its business under one roof

“While we will undoubtedly miss our old headquarters in St Paul Street, we are nonetheless extremely proud and excited to be in Mrieħel. This is, indeed, the start of another chapter in the glorious history of Allied Newspapers,” Mr Rizzo said.

He said that while the company would remain in very close proximity to all of its commercial partners, the move out of Valletta would enable it to bring its business under one roof.

Mr Rizzo described the new facilities as “a highly collaborative, open-plan working space”.

“The new office facilities provide a contemporary ambience for all staff to enjoy and will further help in cultivating a more united culture,” he said.

The new facilities would also provide the company with a suitable platform for further growth and digital acceleration, helping it to keep attracting the very best talent in the industry, he added.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my board of directors, all members of staff and work contractors for their help and support with this relocation.

“These are indeed invigorating times for Malta’s leading media organisation,” Mr Rizzo said.
