Local cult band The Rifffs is planning to introduce a new concept to the Maltese music scene - Northern Soul and Mod – as well as incorporating a collection of different, yet complimenting, music genres.

“We see this abroad, where events, which are not considered as mainstream, have adopted ways to integrate crowds pertaining to different cultures, tastes and trends under one roof,” said Howard Keith of Jagged House management.

The event will kick off tomorrow afternoon at Numero Uno with a display of Classic Scooters which are synonymous to the MOD and SKA movement from the days of Quadrophenia.

Dj sets will include John Gafur (UK) and his selection of Northern Soul, Mod, an old school Ska and Reggae set by Nicky Juuls and a selection of Ska and rock steady classics by Michael Bugeja.

Ray Mercieca, lead singer from the Rifffs and Characters fame added: “We wanted to create something different which will hopefully get the ball rolling and above all offer something entertaining. It would have been easier just doing a concert but The Rifffs are always known to push those buttons.”

The Rifffs performance starts at 7 p.m. This will be last event before their new album scheduled to be released next June.
