When Stoke City and Manchester City face off in the English FA Cup final tomorrow, there will be a Maltese connection in the dugout.

Stoke City manager Tony Pulis, the man responsible for restoring pride to Stoke City, has some of his roots in Malta, his paternal grandfather hailing from Zabbar. He met and married a Welsh woman and they moved to Wales, where he worked in the steel industry. They had six children, of whom Tony's father, Angelo, was the eldest.

Tony Pulis only visited Malta once, in 1975, when he played for Wales in a UEFA U-18 tournament against Malta.
