This year Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, fell on February 10. For this reason, the feast of the Shipwreck of Saint Paul had to be anticipated. The last time that Ash Wednesday fell on this day was in 1932 and it will not fall again on February 10 until far off 2168.

The probability however is that it will never happen again. It seems that consensus is on the brink of being reached between the Roman Catholic, the Orthodox and the Christian Churches for the celebration of Easter on a fixed day – the second Sunday of April, except when the second Sunday is April 8, in which case it will be celebrated on April 15.

Talks in this direction are being spearheaded by Pope Tawadros II, the head of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria.
