The Malta Communications Authority (MCA) organises a number of events with the aim of providing a platform for discussion for the communications industry to share ideas and experiences. These include the electronic communications forum and the e-commerce forum.
However, it also organises a number of activities to bring the communications industry together on a more social level. One such activity is a bowling charity event that is organised every three months.
The recently-held sixth bowling charity event raised €710 in aid of the YMCA. The MCA organised the event together with a number of organisations from the communications industry, namely GO, Vodafone, Melita and MITTS.
The YMCA is a non-profit voluntary movement that addresses the needs of various client groups ranging through troubled families, victims of domestic violence, homeless individuals, people living in substandard accommodation and so on. The YMCA staff is composed of individuals from ranging professions such as psychotherapy, social work, youth work, psychology and counselling. The YMCA assists approximately 65 persons per day and depends on public contributions to be able to offer their services.
Further information on the services provided by the YMCA can be found at www.ymcahomeless.org
The MCA thanked Eden Superbowl, Vodafone Malta, Go, MITTS and Melita Cable for their constant support and generosity.
