Milied Rabti, the biggest Christmas activity in Rabat organised by Zghazagh Rabtin Pawlini, will this year be held in the main Parish Square and St Cataldus Square.

The history of Rabat spans thousands of years, as proved by the numerous historical attractions in the town centre. Milied Rabti has coordinated the opening of some of the most important of these sites. St. Paul’s Grotto, “the cradle of Christianity in Malta”, as Pope Benedict XVI described it, will be open for visitors, who then can pass through the underground passageway, excavated during the times of the Knights in Malta, and access what originally was the convent of the Order, today the Wignacourt Museum. From here, visitors can then gain access to the underlying catacombs and World War II shelters.

Another interesting attraction will be St Cataldus Church, which will be hosting a number of exhibits including paintings, cribs and collections of old Christmas postcards.

The main stage, which will be set in the main square, will host a number of singers, dancers and choirs, as well as a number of stalls offering a variety of local and traditional food and Christmas delicacies. A large number of stalls will be exhibiting various arts and crafts, from pottery, lace and filigree to soap art, egg art and glass decorations.

Kids will be entertained with face painting, train rides and also a Christmas card competition which will include a number of prizes for the winners. For the grown ups, the traditional fair will also be a great attraction, with various prizes to win.

Milied Rabti is open on Saturday, December 17 from 4:00pm onwards and on Sunday, December 18 from 8:30am till 1:30pm.
