To tune up our bodies mentally and physically, especially those who work in a stressful and noisy ambiance, there is no better place than a spa, and most of our five-star hotels advertise this new concept. On a recent 10-day holiday in Garmisch Partenkirchen, while browsing through the tourist information leaflets, the concept of a spa is attached not only to hotels but also to other attractions.

No wonder on the weekend this small town is invaded by tourists and visitors alike. The Kurpark “spa garden” is a quiet oasis at the centre of the town and offers a place for relaxation and meditation, while day-to-day spa concerts are held ranging from the classics to big band music. Another spa is the Partnach Gorge, where you can walk along the 900-metre trial, hearing and watching the river roaring next to you.

Recently there was a passionate article penned by Lino Bugeja regarding Baħrija and its environs, explaining the beautiful walks and scenic views that one can experience in this area. It should be advertised as a spa and I am sure that this will draw more tourists and locals to explore the place. The same goes for Chadwick Lakes, as long as no vehicles are permitted to pass through on Sundays and public holidays at least. Our doctors always recommend walking as one of the best medicines for a healthy body especially if this is done away from it all.
