Boiled down to its essentials, Pullicino Orlando's vote in favour of Labour's motion last week was nothing more than an act of bullying.

Within the context of the arena in which he was flexing his muscles, given the relevant numbers, Pullicino Orlando is all-powerful, and in view of the fact that the debate on the motion resulted in it being obvious that there was no earthly way that Cachia Caruana should be subject to censure, Pullicino Orlando's vote in spite of this was simply someone lashing out in the one place he can throw his weight around.

The same, of course, can be said for Mugliett's abstention.

And then they have the nerve to whine about the PN Executive's condemnation of them: it's OK for them to do what they want to, but when an entirely reasonable reaction is forthcoming, suddenly they start coming over all prissy.

You have to shake your head in awe at the way these two conducted themselves over the last few days, don't you? Both, not so long ago, were targets of venom spewing out from the Labour camp but that's all gone away now, offloading their own bile is reason enough to forget all about it.

I'm told that Pullicino Orlando is going on TVAM on Monday, no doubt to give his reaction to various opinions expressed about his behaviour. I won't be watching him but no doubt I'll hear if he repeats any of the "terminological inexactitudes" which fell from his lips in the House; might be interesting, given that TVAM doesn't afford its guests parliamentary privilege.

I was also made aware, in tones resembling those of a school-yard bully, during a private party, that the jolly old Labour party was also rather miffed at my performance on the same programme, to the extent that a complaint was to be made.

It need hardly be said that I needed reviving after this shock. Actually, the (very mild) shock was felt by the people I was chatting with when the comment was made, because they couldn't really believe that this sort of behaviour was extant in polite circles. The thing is, Labour and its Little Oafs have this conviction that it's their turn to take up the reins of power, irrespective of whether they're fit for purpose, and they're going around making it pretty damn clear that no-one and nothing should be allowed to stand in their way.
