World record-holding flyweight Pongsaklek Wongjongkam will launch his bid to regain the WBC title with an eliminator against Mexican Julio Cesar Miranda next month.

The Thai southpaw, who made a flyweight division record 17 successive defences from 2001-2007, will meet "Pingo" Miranda (29-3-1) on home soil on April 24, with the winner assured a shot at champion Daisuke Naito, of Japan.

Pongsaklek's 11-year unbeaten run ended in July 2007 with a shock points defeat to a much-improved Naito, who he had twice beaten in one-sided bouts.

A devastated Pongsaklek (71-3-1) sought to wrestle back the title eight months later but Naito retained the crown by holding out for a draw in Tokyo.
