The police have identified the anonymous caller who alleged that San Anton School in Mgarr was the target of terrorists.

The police said they investigated the threats which proved negative.

The school said in a statement the police were informed that “armed terrorists in black SUVs were in close proximity of San Anton School”. This threat, it said, was not apparent or in any way real at any time.

It said the call was possibly a prank or some sort of practical joke and the police visited the school and took all the necessary precautions.

The school collaborated fully with the police to ensure that none of its students were at any risk at any time.

“We emphasise that at no point in time was any student, parent or staff member at San Anton School in any sort of peril whatsoever.

“Following a search of the school premises, the police left the school fully satisfied that the allegations in question were unfounded and that nothing was in any way amiss.”
