The families of two ice-cream vendors shook hands and made up in court today after having come to blows in an argument during the feast at Lija on Friday.

The Magistrates' Court was told that George, Raymond and Jean-Paul-Cutajar had an argument with George and Joseph Camenzuli after the Camenzulis asked the Cutajars to move their van so that they could leave.

Raymond Cutajar asked the others to wait 10 minutes because they were serving people.

However the argument boiled over when, according to the Camenzulis, they were made to wait for more than 45 minutes.

Inspector Kevin Farrugia testified that George Camenzuli attacked George Cutajar with a power wash pipe and in retaliation, the latter shattered a neon sign on the Camenzulis' van.

Dr Marianne Camilleri, defence counsel for the Cutajars, said that her clients were ready to forget the whole incident.

Mr Camenzuli said they were also prepared to patch up their differences.

Magistrate Anthony Vella asked them to shake hands. Mr Camenzuli said they had been the best of friends for many years and they were still friends.

All five persons then shook hands and were conditionally discharged for one year. They were also warned that another argument within the next year would cost them a fine of €1,000.
