A court has ordered teleshopping company Omajco Cleaners to stop selling buckets and mops under the trade name Easylife after a rival teleshopping company, Easylife TV Direct, successfully argued that its trade mark had been violated and its sales and reputation had been affected.

Easylife TV Direct took Omajco Cleaners to court, arguing that the sale of Easylife buckets and mops by Omajco Cleaners had confused customers and led to a decline in its own sales of mpġs. It said clients had complained to it when faults developed in the mops sold by Omajco.

Omajco said it had not chosen the name Easylife but the product was packaged in that way abroad.

During the proceedings in was revealed that the product in no longer imported.

The court agreed that trademark protection had been violated and ordered that any remaining Easylife buckets and mops held in warehouses or shops should be seized. Omajco Cleaners were also prohibited from making use of the name EasyLife.
