Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna has conditionally discharged a 15-year-old girl for two years after she yesterday admitted, along with a 16-year-old boy, to stealing a handbag containing over €2,000 worth of items.

The theft took place at Footloose Bar in Paceville between Wednesday and Thursday last week to the detriment of Svetlana Kirillina and Irina Popova.

The boy, who is already in prison for breaching bail, was put on probation for three years.

Before handing down sentence, the magistrate took into consideration the fact that the girl is only 15, that she pleaded guilty, and that she had no previous police record and thus could be treated as a first time offender.

The magistrate said he felt the boy deserved another chance to reform, but warned him this would be his last.
