Three teenage boys have been rescued in the Pacific Ocean after having been adrift for 50 days.

Filo Filo, Samu Perez and Edward Nasau said they survived mainly on coconuts and rainwater.

A New Zealand Air Force search for the boys was launched 50 days ago after they left in an aluminium boat from the Tokelau Islands during a sports event and did not return.

They were rescued today by a fishing boat near Fiji.

The boys said they drank rainwater collected on a tarpaulin and they managed to catch a seabird .
