The police have arrested a teenage boy on suspicion that he was among a group of three who last night held up two women and stole their car.

The incident happened just before 4am in Triq il-Gnien in Gzira.

The car's owner, a 41-year-old woman, said she has been sitting on the doorstep of her house when three young men turned up, pushed her inside and threatened her and another woman, 68.

The men allegedly stole two knives, a mobile phone, €50 in cash and some keys before driving off in her car - a Peugeot 306.

Following a report, a police patrol spotted the car in Tower Road, Sliema. On noting the police, the three stopped the car in St Julian's and fled on foot.

One of them, aged, 15 from St Paul's Bay, was arrested.

Investigations are continuing.
